Surf Term Builds Leaders
Surf Term is a five-week adventure for 6th, 7th, and 8th graders that’s physically, academically, and emotionally rigorous and fun.
Plus, leadership training is embedded in the experience.
Includes 22 leadership experiences focused on the ACES framework of leadership language.
Surf Term starts with the construction of Social Contracts
Also includes lots of fun and challenging team-building games and self-reflection. All to allow students to succeed and often fail as leaders.

Cross-discipline projects (ex: swim rescue training, reef conservation, etc) give students opportunities to put leadership learnings into practice.

Limited Space Available
With only 20 spaces available, Surf Term prides itself on delivering an intimate and impactful experience. Surf Term gives middle schoolers a different approach to education through a belief in rigorous physical activity and a Socratic learning style.
Each child is capable of being their own best teacher, and we’re here to give them the environment, resources, and experiences to explore life, themself, and what they’re excited about. Surf Term does not take the approach that we have things to teach to the kids, but rather the approach that it’s our obligation to provide adventures, challenges, people, and environments for the young learners to develop their own learnings, which will be exactly what they’ll be expected to do and need to do when they enter adulthood in the real world.

Our campus is located at the Nosara Beach Hostel in the village of Nosara on the Nicoya Peninsula of Costa Rica’s Pacific coast.
In stark contrast to the standard American experience, this lush jungle wonderland moves at a slower pace and with a singular purpose: Pura Vida — pure & simple living.
